Last night I did a quick Live Broadcast on my YouTube channel, and while the show turned out well and received some good feedback, I did encounter some glitches in which I learned from.
Although the glitches were not show stopping, there were some performance issues associated with my live broadcast software.
One of things that I did not take into consideration of broadcasting live, is in essence I am a DJ, and I am using my computer to serve local content to YouTube, and I had a ton of memory hogging programs open, like Photoshop, Lightroom, not to mention about 3 web browsers open across multiple tabs, on 3 monitors.
Even though my iMac is quite powerful, there is only so much it can take. I was also encountering internet connection issues throughout the day as well, so looking back I should have rebooted my router too.
But the good thing about this, is that I learned from it. Next live broadcast I will do a clean reboot, and only have the immediate necessary applications open. Thus, full performance power will be allocated to the live broadcast.
You’ve come to know me as a perfectionist by now, and even though last night’s broadcast was not terrible, I learned from some mistakes and will aim to make the next one as close to flawless as possible.
Thanks again for checking out my stuff, I think there is some good content in this video!
